Iterative Sustainability Index Series (Isis)

Released: 2020

Introduction
Sustainability is not static — it evolves. The Iterative Sustainability Index Series (Isis) represents Maison Aria’s adaptive framework for continuous improvement. Rooted in the understanding that true sustainability is a living process, Isis evaluates and refines every design decision through a simple question:
“How sustainable is this, and how does it serve our world?”

Each iteration of Isis builds upon the last, increasing our sustainable business index through innovation, reflection, and reinvention. Inspired by the Reduce-by-Design principle of circular fashion, Isis embraces agility — evolving in harmony with emerging materials, technologies, and environmental insights.

Design Process & The Green MAC Module
Every Isis product begins with design. Concepts are conceived through the Green MAC ModuleGreen Manufacturing and Green Consumption — ensuring that each element, from fabric to fastener, meets Maison Aria’s sustainability thresholds across the Three E’s: Economy, Ecology, and Equity.

Under Green MAC, materials are assessed for:

  • Environmental impact (global warming potential, eutrophication levels, biodegradability)

  • Labor integrity (fair conditions, health, and skill suitability)

  • Consumption sustainability (durability, usability, and end-of-life recyclability)

The Green MAC Module not only governs materials but also informs production and product lifecycle, ensuring that what we create nurtures both people and planet.

Materials
Our materials evolve with our understanding. Early Isis pieces featured silks; through reflection and data from the Higg MSI and CFDA Material Index, we transitioned to faux silk made from mercerized cotton and silk-cotton crepes — blends offering superior durability with reduced environmental strain.

As the series matures, we continue to explore frontier fabrics such as MicroSilk™ by Bolt Threads — biotechnological fibers offering the sheen of silk with the ethics of science.

Production Techniques
Each Isis design begins as a digital sample, eliminating material waste at the concept level. The design is iterated through sustainability assessments — if an improved material match is found, the garment’s sustainability index rises.

Products that maintain the same index over five seasons are gracefully retired — a practice that keeps our catalogue agile and ever-progressive.

Reducing Carbon Footprint
Carbon reduction in Isis is achieved through Green MAC oversight and The Green Overhead system, which governs indirect emissions. Every stage — from sampling to shipping — is continuously optimized to reduce energy, materials, and waste.

Product Lifetime and Transparency
Constructed primarily from reinforced natural fibers, Isis garments are durable, breathable, and easy to maintain. Decorative reinforcement and sustainable stitching ensure longevity.

As with all Maison Aria collections, Isis products feature the forthcoming Scan-to-Care digital label, offering customers instant insight into their garment’s composition, care, and sustainability lineage.

Isis is a living system — an evolving promise of responsibility, artistry, and renewal.
